As I mentioned in an earlier post, President George W Bush was a comedian's dream. Not only that, he is my favourite of Jon Culshaw's comic creations on the BBC's Dead Ringer's show. Tina Fey does the equivalent for Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate. I guess it's too easy to do a doddery old geezer - and making fun of infirmity isn't that funny, after all. So, that's McCain's chances of an enduring comic fame prematurely ended then?
