Bonuses destroy performance
Well, here it is. A Simple explanation as to why bonuses are detrimental to performance where work involves any kind of creative thinking. A one size fits all motivation process is scientifically proven to be ineffective. Isn't it time our organisations started being more discriminating in the structures they adopt - management control suits some activities but a Results Only Work Environment (ROWE) has proven extremely lucrative to organisations like Google. It's time to ban old style Taylorism in the workplace, surely!
